We're so pleased to have you here and hope you've had a pleasant journey thus far. You're now in your own private space for your visit with everything that you should need, as well as a few luxuries, too.

Linhay Cottage is a wonderful base to explore the scenic county of Wiltshire and Georgian City of Bath, as well as other local market towns such as Corsham and Bradford-on-Avon.

We pride ourselves on a personal and friendly welcome and dedicate our business to ensuring we meet all your needs, so each of our guests has a faultless and highly satisfying stay.

House Rules

  • No smoking or vaping within the Cottages - you are able to do so outside.

  • Please leave the cottage as you found it.

  • Any breakages, spillages or things not working, please let us know as soon as possible. Don't worry if you drop a glass - we've all done it!

  • Should you spill liquids on the sofa, please use a damp cloth to pat the area to avoid staining.

  • Please do not leave windows open if you are going out.

  • Please do not feed anything other than yourselves.

  • Please vacate the cottage by 11am on the day of your departure.

  • Have a wonderful time and please do let us know if we can ever help at all.

Key Information

Wi-Fi and Internet: Our Wi-Fi network information can be found next to the downstairs Television. Please make sure you use the correct Wi-Fi connection so you get good signal wherever you are in the property.​

Television: We offer complimentary accounts for Netflix (4K Premium) and Amazon Prime Video for the properties, however we welcome you to sign into your own accounts should you wish to. Please remember to sign out of your account on departure or your recommended shows might change!

Downstairs Heating: Our downstairs has underfloor heating, and the thermostat can be found in the kitchen.

Upstairs Heating: There are radiators in each bedroom, and these are controlled via the thermostats that can be found next to the light switches in each bedroom.

Bathroom Heating: The bathrooms have underfloor heating which is set to 18.

Fire Suppression: The Fire Extinguisher is on the shelf in the cloakroom and Fire Blanket is in the kitchen is on the wall next to the cooker. There is also a full downstairs fire activated sprinkler system for your ease of mind.

Key Safe: This holds the front door key. You will have been provided a code for the key box prior to your arrival. Please put the keys back into the key safe on your departure.

Other door keys: Keys for the patio doors are in the doors. If you need to remove the key, please ensure it is placed back in the door before departure.

Linen and Towels: These are provided, but should you require extra, please do let us know.

Hairdryer: Located in the chest of drawers in the bedrooms.

Parking: We have free private on-site parking and two marked spaces per property. 

General Household Waste and Recycling Bin: Spare bags are under the sink. When full please put bags into the black general waste bin and red-topped recycling bin store in the car park.

Bath Car Parks:

If you wish to park in Bath there are a number of different car parks depending on which side of the city you would like to end up on. We have the Podium Car Park which is closest to the Abbey, Avon Street Car Park which is close to the River Avon, Southgate Car Park which places you within the city centre, and Kingsmead Car Park which is close to Odeon and Nandos (we know it's important to mention Nandos).

Appliances

Hob
• Press the left-hand symbol.
• Select the hob ring you wish to use and press the up/down to get the level you require.


Oven
• Use the left hand dial to select which function and the right hand dial to select temperature.


Microwave
• This is a microwave oven with various settings.
• For simple use turn the left dial one click to the right.
• Touch the matching on the middle display. Use the right dial to adjust the cooking time.
• Press start on the middle display.


Dishwasher
• Put in the dishwasher tab.
• Press power on the left-hand side.
• The default programme is eco. Press start on the right-hand side.


Washing Machine
• Put in the washing tab, put in clothes.
• The most used cycle is 40 degrees mixed fabrics on the dial.
• Press the start button on the right-hand side.

Getting Around

Fuel: Budgens Shell Petrol Station (3 minute drive) - Directions

Uber: We sit within the Uber operating area. Book here

Bus: The number X31 bus travels from Chippenham to Bath and stops near The Northey Arms and opposite Shockerwick Lane. Google Maps offers excellent up-to-date bus times when you search directions, however please note that the bus service is often late!

Emergencies

In the event of a fire: call 999 immediately. Leave the building and assemble in the car park after alerting neighbouring cottages.

Only attempt to tackle the blaze yourself if it is a small fire - do not risk yourself. The Fire Extinguisher is on a shelf in the cloakroom and the Fire Blanket is by the cooker in the kitchen. If you need to discharge the extinguisher or the fire blanket, please let us know immediately once it is safe.

The designated fire exits are the front and rear doors of the house.

There are smoke alarms in the living room and in the upstairs bedrooms. In the event that these go off, please ensure that all guests are woken and leave the building.

In the event of a power cut: you will find a torch in your bedside table. The emergency light will come on in the entrance hallway. Please contact us as soon as possible so that we can investigate this for you.

In any other emergency, such as a serious injury or a crime, contact 999 as soon as possible and then contact us to let us know.

Your closest A&E department is Bath Royal United Hospital, and the nearest Minor Injury Unit is Chippenham Hospital. For prescriptions and medication, your closest pharmacy is Box Pharmacy. There is a First Aid kit in the cupboard at the bottom of the shelves opposite the bottom of the stairs.

You won't be surprised to see that since Linhay is situated in rural England, that there aren't a huge amount of options for takeaways. We live here, though, so here are our best picks (you may have to go and collect from some of these!).

Departure

Check-out time is by 11am unless otherwise arranged. We ask this so that we can prepare our next guest for the same experience. To ensure this, please check:

  • Used dishes are in the dishwasher and it is turned on

  • All doors and windows securely closed

  • Key returned to the key safe and the code scrambled
